Hi, I’m Julie,

Here’s a little bit about myself.

I’m the proud owner of a really great little home decor shop in Lake Barrington IL called Tattered Tiques. I own the shop with my mom and sister. We’ve been in business for almost 14 years now. It’s been amazing running a shop with my family. Our kids have grown up there over the years, and now help us out on the weekends. What started as an antiques and vintage shop, has now become a home decor boutique. Along with home decor, we also sell houseplants and giftwares. We also custom paint furniture on the side.

Once bitten by the vintage bug, I’m now addicted. I can’t seem to stay away from buying and collecting vintage items. All those long roadtrips off antiquing the Midwest grew my passion for vintage. Though I don’t go on long antiquing trips any longer, I get my fix in local thrift stores and antique shops.

Over the summer, my daughter got me hooked on thrifting all over again. We made an effort each week, on Mondays, to go thrifting. But first…coffee. We started each thrift trip with a stop at our local Duncan Donuts. Grab a coffee, grab a cart, and get thrifting.

With all those finds, I needed to find a home for them. I can’t keep everything, nor do I need anything else. As I get older, I’m trying very hard to purge and live with less. I have so many collections from over the years. If I’m not using them anymore, I want them to be enjoyed by someone else. So, with what I already have, and everything else I pick up, I needed an outlet to sell them. Beside taking them to the shop, Tattered Tiques, I also revamped my old Etsy shop, The Tattered House, and started selling there again. I’m happy to say that I’ve had great success selling on Etsy! That’s where most of my finds go. I also occasionally sell smalls on Facebook Marketplace, which is where I always list my painted furniture.

Besides my renewed love for thrifting for vintage, I also love spending time outdoors, traveling, baking, getting cozy at home, and being a small business owner.

Thanks for stopping by! Please consider subscribing, and make sure to stop back often.

Best,

Julie
